Ysgol Llanfyllin garden
The Men’s Shed has constructed 2 planters for the school. There is a trellis for the garden at the
community garden. The school has made a plan of the proposed garden. Sioned Vaughan will
provide a range of dates for setting up the garden.
PAVO Social Fund

expired.
Repair Cafe
Next Repair Cafe 14th May in Oswestry.
The possibility of a pop-up repair cafe at the Wittington Green Festival was discussed but since it
conflicts with the Llanfyllin Repair Cafe it was decided against. There may be a pop-up at future
Green Festivals.
Cain Valley River Group
Smart River Training – 10am–4pm 25th–26th May at the Institute – was discussed, interest in attending
was expressed by Alison, Andrew and Barbara Carbon. Details will be forwarded to all 3.
Funds from the predecessor group are now in the BRACE bank account – £168.01.
New projects
Swifts
A swift tour was in action this evening by Kirsty of the Wildlife Trust, the original walk leader
being ill with Covid. Due to the conflict with this BRACE meeting they will offer an other walk
specifically for BRACE in the future.
Llanfyllin has been declared a Swift Hub.
St. Myllin’s Day festival
BRACE has been invited to have a stall at the annual Festival.
11am – 2pm Friday 3rd June, town square and Church grounds. Followed by music until 7pm.
Was agreed on. CVRG may have stall too – Dewi at Severn River Trust to be contacted for
material.
Maes Y Dderwen festival
2nd July. BRACE will have a stall. Rhian Davies will put info for help up on Whatsapp.
Plant sale
Noon through 4pm Saturday 21st May was agreed on – but since this meeting the date may not work
due to music group not being available. Alison will create a press release. Rhian will make a
poster.
Pila Pala tour
10am Sunday June 12th Car pool at school car park, Bachie Road. Preregistration required, number signed up so far unknown.
Home energy audits
There is a course in Newtown that Barbara Holmes would like to go to. 3 people will be trained to
survey 15 homes in Llanfyllin. Andrew Leslie, and Barbara to be trained.
Update after meeting – all training for the Audits has finished for this round of funding. If the
Audit project is successful they will apply for more funding to increase the scope.
Sunflower festival
Barbara Holmes informed us about the Llanfechain Sunflower festival taking place this year.
Residents there are growing sunflowers in solidarity with The Ukraine and its people. She
suggested we hold the same. A lively discussion followed and decided that we would but that it
should be about promoting peace rather than being a political platform. David offered to raise
Sunflower seedlings for distribution. There was talk of holding a sunflower competition for tallest,
biggest flower etc. Bluesky Crafts will look into knitting and crocheting flowers.
