After a busy morning of transporting planters and shifting soil, gardening has finally got underway at Llanfylllin school. While the work is definitely not finished, and there are more plans afoot to create further planting spaces, two new planters and plenty of pots have helped green hard areas of concrete.
Herbs will provide an edible yield, while specifically aromatic plants will help engage members of the school through touch and smell. Pollinator-friendly flowers will help encourage other wildlife as well as providing food for the resident population of bees, which the gardeners discovered on the day.
Members of the school got stuck in too, planting out their new greenery and making sure that the containers and planting fit their vision.
Hopefully there will be more developments coming soon for an even greener, richer and biologically diverse school environment. Keep an eye out!
